Travel Agents Specializing in New Zealand
G’day!
Thanks for visiting our website! We at Go Walkabout Travel Agency are your Travel Agents, Specializing in New Zealand and Australia for travelers from the USA and Canada.
With over 30 years of expertise specializing in travel to New Zealand, you are guaranteed to receive the specialized knowledge from your Travel Agent that only a local would know.
Here are some tips from our Travel Agents Specializing in New Zealand on what you need to be mindful of when planning your trip.
1/ If traveling with a U.S. or Canadian passport, you need a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) to holiday in New Zealand. We can assist you with applying for one.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months after you return to North America, and if you have any previous criminal records, you may be denied entry. You also may be asked for proof that you can support yourself during your visit and must not enter on a one-way ticket. Airlines may request this information before boarding a flight.
2/ New Zealand is a small country that gets busy during great weather. The best times to visit New Zealand are between October and April.
Remember, the South Island will be colder, so if you want to enjoy decent weather in both areas (subject to Mother Nature,), then your Travel Agents specializing in New Zealand suggest visiting anywhere from November to April. We like the March-April period as it is after the mad rush of Summer.
3/ The best way to travel around New Zealand is to self-drive and fly. Most roads in New Zealand are single lanes (unless you are on a major highway), and they can be very winding. Be mindful of sheep!
New Zealand is not a country where you rush between places when driving for safety! Remember, driving in New Zealand is very different from going to Chicago, Toronto, or even Dallas! They also drive on the opposite side of the road!
For those who may not be comfortable with self-driving, we can organize a rail journey, private tour guides, and private transfers via road, and everything will still be designed as a custom tour just for you.
4/ Jet lag always hits the hardest upon returning to Canada and the USA.
After enjoying your luxury vacation in New Zealand, allow yourself an extra day or two before returning to work. Many of our clients on the East Coast, i.e., Atlanta, Boston, and Tampa, like to have a stopover on their return to break that extra-long journey. You can trust the advice from your Travel Advisor Specializing in New Zealand- they have all flown this route many times!
5/ Not only is your Travel Agent specializing in New Zealand here to give you all their advice when designing your vacation, but we also provide you with access to our 24/7 support emergency line in New Zealand. We always have your back, no matter what!
6/ Your dedicated travel agent will work with you to map out your dream vacation. We will consider your wants and needs and your budget.
Your travel agents specializing in New Zealand were born and raised in the South Pacific and know it like the back of their hand! There will be no cookie-cutter itinerary for your vacation to New Zealand! Whether you visit the highlights of the North Island, the South Island, or the whole country, we have you covered.
7/ Book early! Our New Zealand Travel Agents need time to plan and design a once-in-a-lifetime custom itinerary.
The earlier you book, the better your chance of staying in the best accommodation options and getting the first choice on small group tours.
Limited daily flights depart from Houston, San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Chicago, and Los Angeles for Auckland. New Zealand is getting busier with events and conferences, so play it safe and have your customized vacation package tailor-made early! Contact one of our Travel Planners.
8/ We highly recommend a stopover in the South Pacific Islands or visiting Australia on your way to or from New Zealand
Talk to one of our Travel Agents specializing in Australia. They will be happy to share their travel experience and discuss crafting a custom Australia and New Zealand vacation package.
Did you know that airfares often do not cost much extra when traveling to Australia and New Zealand combined? The beautiful Cook Islands, Fiji, and Tahiti are your other leisure stopover options when traveling to/from North America to the South Pacific.
9/ New Zealand has many different accommodation options and activities. Your travel expert specializing in New Zealand will work closely with you to help you make the best choices on your trip to New Zealand.
We suggest a mixture of the following:
- An overnight farm stay with a local family.
- New Zealand luxury lodges (we all deserve a treat.)
- Apartments so you can do some laundry
- Boutique Hotels.
- Bed and Breakfasts.
- An overnight cruise on Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound, where you may see some wildlife.
A combination of the above options will give you a good overview of authentic life in New Zealand when you are on your trip.
