Australia Travel Specialists New York
G’day!
Thanks for visiting our website! We at Go Walkabout Travel are your Australia Travel Specialists for New York
We have been designing customized itineraries for our clients from New York since 1988! Trust us when we say we have a lot of expert knowledge about our home in The South Pacific.
Our Australia Travel Specialists for the New York region are born and raised in Australia, and you are guaranteed to receive the specialized knowledge that only a local would know.
Check out some personalized tips from our Australia Travel Experts on what you need to be mindful of when planning an Australia and New Zealand Vacation from New York.
1/ If you are a US Passport Holder, you will need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) when enjoying a vacation in Australia or New Zealand. Your Australian and New Zealand Travel Specialists can assist you with these. You must ensure you have at least six months of validity left on your passports from the date you arrive back in the USA, and also declare any criminal records upfront; otherwise, you may require a different Visa or be denied entry. If you have a stopover in New Zealand or transfer flights, you must also apply for an NZeTA.
2/ Like anywhere in North America, flight and traffic delays can cause mayhem and a bad start to your holiday! If you travel to any New York airport, please leave yourselves plenty of time. It is way better to be checked in and enjoy a drink than to be stressed at the beginning of your dream holiday!
3/ Flying times from New York via Los Angeles to Sydney in the land down under are approximately 21 hours in one direction with Qantas- this does not include the airport transfer time.
4/Returning to New York after a luxurious vacation in Australia or New Zealand can be challenging due to jet lag. It is recommended to allow yourself an additional day or two before returning to work. Our South Pacific Travel Agents are experienced in flying this route and strongly advise taking extra time to avoid feeling like a zombie.
5/ If you have scheduled a guided tour in either New Zealand or Australia, planning your departure a day or two earlier is advisable. This will give you extra time to acclimate to the time zone and avoid any anxiety if your flight is delayed in connecting to your coach tour. Rest assured that your Australia and New Zealand Specialist Travel Consultant will be available to help you with any issues during your trip, and you can contact our 24/7 emergency number if necessary.
6/ Book early! We need time to start planning and designing you a once-in-a-lifetime custom itinerary to travel DownUnder. The earlier you book, the better your chance of staying in the best accommodation options and getting your first choice on small group tours- plus, your Australia Vacation Specialists can genuinely get to know what you are after without feeling rushed! If you want to enjoy an adventure package to Uluru, Australia, or snorkel or dive at The Great Barrier Reef, you need to be very aware of the best time to travel to Australia.
7/ Consider booking a mixture of accommodations when planning a trip to Australia. There are some very restrictive luggage conditions on some domestic flights in Australia. If you travel for several weeks or more, you will want access to laundry facilities. Your accommodation choices range from luxury high-end island retreats in The Whitsunday Islands to glamping in a true Australia outback experience at Uluru / Ayers Rock or staying with a local family on Kangaroo Island.
8/It’s important to remember that different regions may have different time zones. For example, while North America observes Daylight Saving, not all areas in Australia do. During your flight, be sure to pay attention to the flight attendant’s announcements about any time changes. Even cities that appear in the same location on a map may have different time zones during daylight saving, such as Sydney and Brisbane.
9/ Keep an eye on the New York Airport website on your day of departure! You must double-check the New York Airport website departures to ensure your flight operates on time. Most airlines do not advise travelers if there are any schedule changes or delays right before a flight date. If they do, it is usually way after the fact! If you see any changes that may affect your trip, ensure you contact your Australia Expert for assistance- that is what we are there for, remember?!
We look forward to designing your customized vacation from New York to Australia or New Zealand. We can tailor-make and customize a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime trip, whether you are planning an action-packed family holiday, attending a conference, celebrating a wedding anniversary, taking advantage of that well-deserved graduation gift, or finally getting to relax on that romantic honeymoon.
